131 Sunflower Hub Holds The Maiden Edition Of Its Startup Breakfast Meeting

As a part of the National Acceleration Program, the 131 Sunflower Hub held a Startup Breakfast Meeting on its premises. Under the theme “The Competitive Advantage of Market Research, the Breakfast Meeting was to help the startups know, understand and be at the top of the competition in their respective fields.

The breakfast meeting,the first of its kind to be held this year by the organization, was to bring together some of the young entrepreneurs in Ghana with the ultimate purpose of networking, consolidation the views of members on entrepreneurial issues for advocacy.

In attendance were some young leading entrepreneurs from Manufacturing, IT, Media and Fashion. Notable among them were Augustina Tufuor of Tropical Snacks, Grace Archer of MumsNet Nutrition, Eunice Tudeka of Eunick Klothing and Mercy Prah of Ewura Cakes and Cuisines among others.

The main speaker, Jemima Abavon of Sales Hub highlighted a few reasons why some businesses fail to grow despite attending lots of workshops and seminars. She also iterated that the most important thing for a business to do in order to conduct market research is to know their consumer. This enables them to come up with products and services best suited to satisfy the need of these consumers.

To sum up her session, Jemima entreated the startups to be “wicked in their strategy.” She went further to explain what it meant: the businesses have to be intentional in their marketing strategy. Every industry is saturated with a lot of businesses so in order to survive, the startups have to do everything possible to keep themselves relevant to consumers.

About the Acceleration Program

The Acceleration program seeks to tackle and address the demand for robust Business support towards the offering of quality Business Development Services (BDS) to existing businesses.

The objective 131 Sunflower Hub is to identify the crucial industries in the Adenta municipality. Following that, customized training and resources would be made available to provide business development services to SMEs in these industries.

The program’s cohort will be crowned with a Startup pitch and investment forum dubbed the Ghana Startup Summit (GSS), where all the accelerated businesses get to pitch to a panel of Investors (both Angel Investors and Venture Capital Investors) to help secure growth funding.
